IIn late September of 2009, Kara began a project on Twitter called moonrhymes. The project started as a creative promise she made to herself to write and post one haiku every day for a year. But as she began writing, she found that it was inspiring her to create larger pieces of poetry as well as new music. As a result, Kara has expanded the breadth of her project to include an eventual book of haiku poems, a new album of songs, and a performance piece called Running Reeling Revelations. Some of her pieces are formatted as traditional haiku poems in stanzas of three lines, others are formatted as several lines of seventeen syllables each.
